I loved all these literary mini sessions. Kids with books are so interesting. They are curious, questioning, giggly, and thoughtful. I love the look of contemplation, surprise, and joy when they read. So when these bright-eyes looked up at me and asked, “Do you have any chapter books?” we hopped right over to search among my book stacks for the perfect book. At age six, I’m pretty sure reading a chapter book is your #1 goal in life. I hear it from my own daughter all the time. “My goal is to read a chapter book by the end of the school year!” As a book lover myself, I think that this goal is admirable. Do you remember when you read your first chapter book? I remember when I read a entire book in one sitting. That was a BIG day! ha! Luckily, chapter books are plentiful, even when you are six, and since my bookshelves are packed with books, she found one easily. She settled on the fabulous Good Work Amelia Bedelia! I love Amelia Bedelia. The play on words and phrases just tickle me so! 🙂 And, that was no exception for this girl! As I took her picture we discussed Amelia Bedelia and her silly ways. What got the biggest look of surprise? When she served a raw egg to Mr. Brown with his toast! We also giggled about that one time Amelia Bedelia tried to put clothes on a chicken. She was trying to dress the bird after all! This girl brought all the beautiful attitude of being six and mixed it up with a joy of reading. Her session turned out so perfectly her. I LOVE IT.
