Some of my favorite sessions as a child photographer are of kids in costumes. I love seeing what inspires them, what captures their imagination, what transforms them. Most parents can remember at time when their kid spent a month straight wearing a costume everywhere.
When my sister was three she wore a clown costume for two months. My sister-in-law didn’t try to fight it and wore her wonder woman costume to Target when her two sons – dressed as Batman and Spiderman – begged her to dress up too. She gets bonus mom points. My kids spend hours as Peter Pan and Minnie Mouse.
It is a quintessential part of childhood. If you haven’t experienced it yet, you will and it is fabulous!
Here’s a few of my favorites which include a lot of variations on Alice in Wonderland, two fabulous fairies, a plethora of Star Wars characters, two unicorns, and a Peter Pan. Maybe you’ll find some inspiration for your own Halloween costume this year:
