Hey Friends, the best time for a family photography session is in the fall. It’s the best season of the year in Michigan and the evening light makes everything so dreamy. It’s almost like we can stop time for a few minutes and just soak up the love of family.
It only makes sense then, to get the cousins together for a photo session and celebrate that unbreakable bond unique among cousins. I have a cousin about 8 months younger than me. Even thought we don’t talk every day or even every month, we have a bond that started in childhood. It’s obvious to everyone in the family and I think that they might even be a little jealous. 🙂 So, when my brother had the opportunity to move here with his family, he took it. He really wanted our children, the next generation of cousins, to be together.
We take an annual trip to Downtown Northville to check out all the skeletons, a not-to-miss October event, and then I steal them away for a photo session at the park.
This particular location in Northville is my favorite for family photos and I think that you can see why. It’s one of the best leaf piles in town, has dreamy creamy light, and plenty of opportunities to pose and photograph children.
Children under 10 are my specialty. I’ve worked with this age group my whole life and that experience shows in my photographs. In fact, after we got done throwing around the leaves, I took some nice portraits of my nephews. You’ll love that you get traditional portraits + super awesome fun times in the leaves.
Enjoy these photos, then book your own family session this fall. And, while you’re at it, you might want to hold a place on my schedule for holiday photos too.
