Rest, Relax, Recover, these are all words you want to describe your post-partum, newly delivered baby time. Does a photo session sound like the opposite of that? Let me show you how I make this a relaxing experience for everyone involved!
Pre-Session Booking
- Check my availability and book your due date as a placeholder! No retainer is required.
- Pre-session Planning: I’ll send you a short – no really, it’s like 5 sentences – photoshoot prep plan. Nothing elaborate. Your time should be spent resting, eating, and getting ready for that new baby because your life is about to change!
- Call me when you’re home and settled or from the hospital if you just can’t wait. 😊
What to expect when I arrive for your baby photo session
Don’t worry if you’re not ready yet. I like to be prompt or sometimes early. Sometimes I’m a few minutes late because I forget to account for the time it takes to pack the car. Just know that I am a Wizard who shows up exactly when she means to, but that I never schedule a session after yours, so we have plenty of time.
Next, we’ll have a collaborative chat
I’ll want to hear from you about what you expect, what you’re thinking, and I’ll take a quick look around to find the prettiest window light. While I bring professional lighting with me, I believe natural light makes for the most flattering light. Sometimes there is a darker room or a specific spot that we want to shoot and we’ll need a little extra photographer magic. The point is, I’m prepared for all scenarios, even a cloudy winter day in Michigan!
Time for snuggles (and photos!)
This is the fun part. I’ve brought everything we need, including an heirloom wrap from my favorite baby blanket company. After picking your favorite, I’ll walk you through some gentle, natural posing to capture all the beauty and magical newness of this moment.
Break Time
Inevitably there is a diaper change, baby snack break, or wardrobe change. We’ll hit pause on the photos and you can take a moment to nurture your people and yourself.

This time I focus on the baby snuggled in my basket with a timeless blanket and capture all the details of that charming tiny face!
We part as new friends!
My departure, is always awkward as I navigate my big basket out your front door, but as I leave you’ll think “that was fun, relaxing, and I can’t wait to see my photos!”
