I just got back from Disney and this was the PERFECT time to meet up with these clients! With all my beautiful memories of the mouse house fresh in my mind, I created an homage to their wedding day and the place they love most.
This Disney Bride and I are photography soulmates. No, seriously. If I could have a photography soulmate, it’s her. Her gamer, Star Wars loving husband is just like mine. These are my people. So when I met up with them in the Detroit area to photograph their sweet new babe it was a match made in…well it was like we wished on a star and the fairy godmother put us together!
They specifically requested a few things: that their dog, their first “baby,” be included in the shoot and that we incorporate as much Disney pixie dust as we could. So, this Disney inspired newborn shoot has, of course, princesses, Minnie mouse, a faithful pup, and lots and lots of magical moments.
I especially love all the handmade touches that make this so personal. The Minnie Mouse crochet outfit and the mouse blanket were made by a friend. The princess crown was worn by mama on her wedding day. And, when they found out they were having a girl, they rushed out to buy a pile of plush princesses. I am dying to know which one will be her favorite.
As I settled this sweet baby into a slumber, I talked to myself – like I do a lot when I am shooting – mentioning aloud all the beautiful character traits the Disney Princesses can teach us. Rapunzel is adventurous. Belle reminds us that books are magical. Cinderella is kind and graceful. Snow White is so loving towards all she meets, even animals. Ariel loves music and the sea. All the princesses can teach us something about life, adventure, and kindness.
These were awesome, cool parents and the time went so quickly because we were chatting away about our favorite Disney rides and characters and places to eat and it was like being on vacation all over again. I cannot wait to hear about their first trip with their daughter and for them to experience the magic of being there with their own child.
