I was so excited to head to South Lyon last week for a newborn photography session.
First, I love photographing babies. It scratches an itch, know what I mean? I get to snuggle all that sweet beautifulness, but then I get to go home and actually sleep! 🙂
Second, I love to photograph repeat clients. We know each other. We are comfortable with each other. I know the house, the people, and the pets. It’s much more relaxed, more fun, and all the pictures look more natural. So, I love to meet with clients over and over again because each session is more fun than the last. That’s a pretty tall order too, because I consider myself to be pretty fun to begin with!
But, THIRD, I pulled all the props and pieces to shoot an amazing, beautiful, fabulous, and artistic newborn photo. I am thrilled with how it turned out! To start, I am IN LOVE with Alice in Wonderland and all the magic and wonder and craziness it encompasses. It has my favorite things: a curious girl, crazy animals, and an EPIC tea party. It’s probably the world’s most famous tea party. I’ve revisited this theme many times in the last five years and every time the shoots are unique and magical in their own way. This time did NOT disappoint.
Most of the props for this set are handcrafted or handmade and all of them were carefully curated for maximum impact. I chose the prettiest tea cup, at least as the prettiest one when photographed from above, the most vibrant Alice book I own – and I have several! – and the perfect little black bow to give that nod to the famous costume. I love how all these photography props came together to make a backdrop for one of the prettiest little babies! She makes a lovely Alice, don’t you think?
Oh, and she is just as lovely in all the other beautiful images from her newborn session too. 🙂
