A couple years ago I learned the most important friendship lesson I’ve ever learned and it’s the perfect illustration of why it’s never too late to book a newborn photo session.

I was in the hospital. I personally think I was having a panic attack, but no one ever really gave me an answer for my symptoms. My heart was palpitating in a terrifying way, irregular, sometimes heavy, sometimes normal. My body was freaking out. All the tests were good with no red flags whatsoever, but the monitors were crazy. My husband was with me, but I called my friend just to let her know what was going on.
“Where are you? I’ll be there soon. I’m coming to visit.” She hung up.
She texted me a few more times from Target asking about things I liked or didn’t and ended with “Nevermind. I’ll just pick some things.”
About an hour later she arrived like a fairy godmother with crafts, a hairbrush, a toothbrush, some cozy slippers (that I’m wearing right now) and her amazing presence (side note: she had talked her way into the hospital somehow because I was really only supposed to have one visitor, but that’s the kind of magic she has).
Everything she brought was magic. It kept my hands busy and my feet cozy. It was like a hug in a bag even in after she left. It was perfect.
A few months later I asked her, “How did you do it? How did you know just what to bring and do?” I didn’t think I was ever really good at that sort of thing. I always over-thought and could never find the right way to support someone. When I did, it was six months later and the moment had passed.
I promise this has to do with photos. Stay with me.
She said, “I don’t think it matters what you do. It just matters that you show up.”
It’s that simple. Just show up. In whatever way that looks like for you.

And that’s how you should treat your newborn photo session.
Just show up.
No pressure, just your presence
Just show up and I’ll take care of the rest.
Don’t overthink it. Just show up. Contact me to check last-minute availability and let’s create something beautiful.
