You’ve heard about gamifying life? Well, I like to gamify baby photo shoots. How else are we going to get the energetic three year old to press pause on their not-so-systematic deconstruction of your living room? When I come to your house for a newborn session, expect that we will play some silly games – freeze dance is a popular one – and get those kids to quiet and chill for at least as long as I need to click the shutter button!
When I was in my early teens, I was the go-to babysitter for all my parent’s friends. It helped that I was about 7-10 years older than just about every other kid, but it also helped that I had a crazy imagination. I was often hired for big gatherings where I would take a big group of kids outside to keep them busy.
One warm afternoon, a Dad stopped me.
“Hey,” he asked, “What are you doing out there? I saw all those kids sitting down in a circle with you. Did you have candy or something?”
